The new update to pLOT introduces Plugins capabilities. Plugins are simply Java (.jar) files that can be used to automate or manipulate the sequences in the pLOT window, make their own windows, or any number of other things. Plugins stored in the “Plugins” subdirectory will be automatically loaded at startup and can be accessed from the Plugins menu in the main window. (See image below). Plugins that are meant for one-time use or testing can be dragged and dropped to the main window to load them until pLOT is closed. A template made with the Netbeans IDE is included in the update zip file and a more detailed tutorial will be available in the future.
Additionally, the antisense reading frames for selected features can now be toggled in the main window from the View menu. These reading frames are also able to be toggled in the Sequence Editor window using the View menu there.
